Born in Spain in 1980, Raquel Muñoz studied Fine arts at the University of Barcelona, where she actually lives. She has carried out projects and exhibited in Europe and abroad, within the context of solo & group shows and as a member of artistic teams. Since 2006 she has been member of the MIOP collective and began a close artistic collaboration with Montse Carreño in 2010. Using different media, her artistic production explores potential interactions between facts and fictions, to generate new narrations concerning collective memory, history, identity, inherited conventions, consumption, otherness and hybridisation in contemporary societies. The infiltration into different contexts allows her to intervene in reality to resignify it, to use fiction as a cognitive tool and actuality as raw material.
